Big Sister Sheena

Sheena is now the proud big sister of Roy. Roy arrived via C-section weighing 4kgs - 500gm bigger than Sheena was.

Unfortunately Roy has only spent 2 days at home with Sheena despite being 13 days old already. They detected a heart murmur, which he was coping with fine while at the maternity hospital, and was discharged with a plan to follow up in the next few weeks as an outpatient, expecting that the holes would spontaneously close (as was the case with Sheena). However after 2 days home from hospital, Roy went into heart failure, and he's been in hospital since. It looks like surgery is the path we're on at the moment. There is still a chance that they'll send him home first beforehand, but his work of breath is still really labored, so he is staying put at the moment.

Sheena is being a bit naughty at home with Dad at the moment, but that is to be expected given she's 2 and testing the boundaries without mum around to say No. I have been in hospital with Roy, so I am missing Sheena a lot, but see her every second day for an hour or so. Cardiac wards are not good play areas for 2 year olds, so its hard to do much more than that at the moment.

Congratuluations on the birth of your son Roy! He's so precious!

I'm sorry to hear it looks like he'll need surgery though, praying for him - and for all of you through this time. I'm sure it's hard on Sheena not understanding why you're not at home.

Roy is in my prayers!

Oh My GOD!!! Congratulations - I thought 'better check Sheena Time - surely that baby is due soon' - and there he is - so beautiful!!! It is lovely to see him - I bet Sheena (despite the terrible 2's )is going to be a great big sister. Will say a prayer for you and Roy and the family - heart surgery is not pretty - but if Roy gets half the fab treatment Hannah had - then it will all be fine. Thinking of you all - hope to see pics of the little guy with Sheena soon. Take care of yourself too - I know it is hard to do in those early days. Lol.

What a beautiful little boy! I'm sure you all are just ecstatic that he's here.

I'm so sorry Roy may have to go through surgery. It's not easy handing your baby over for surgery, but once you get through it life will return to normal. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and before you know it, you'll be on the other side.

Keeping good thoughts for you. And especially for baby Roy.

I am use to checking my sitemeter and seeing Australia being the first to check on us and lo and behold we have been missing you! No wonder ... we were sure that meant the baby had arrived. Congratulations on Roy's arrival and rest assured Zoey and family will be sending bunches of prayers and well wishes until you have that little guy home with you, right where he belongs! He is truly beautiful!
